Because this speaks to the very heart of our business ethics and reputation, we take copyright and fair use concerns very seriously.
Copyright laws apply to the website itself, as a whole, in addition to any art or written articles included therein. The site I create for you is copyrighted with you as the owner, and me, Mara Alexander DBA Hello World Web Design, as the website author/designer. Copyrights for any included materials are extended to the original creator.
Except as stated herein, none of the material may be copied, reproduced, distributed, republished, downloaded, displayed, posted or transmitted in any form or by any means, including, but not limited to: electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, or other wise, without the prior written permission.
Any unauthorized use of any material contained on this Site may violate copyright laws, trademark laws, the laws of privacy and publicity, and communications regulations and statutes. Any claim relating to, and the use of, this Site and the materials contained herein is governed by the laws of the state of California.
In plain English... The design in it's entirety is a example of my work, and protected by copyright law as such. The website is yours to use as intended, in it's entirety and as it was originally designed. This does not mean it is yours to dissect, rearrange, repurpose, or in any other way significantly change it from the original design and leave my/our business name attached to it. Sadly...this has happened. Put another way, if you bought a painting you couldn't draw in stick figures, and still present it as a work of the original artist.
Please be sure you have full legal rights to use the photos, music or video files, and/or written material. By the act of providing materials to be used on your website, you certify said materials and files are not copyrighted by a third party, and you are not representing someone else's work as your own.
Domain Name Registration.
If a domain name registration is included in your design package, the domain is always registered in your name, with you as the owner. It is yours to do with as you see fit, even if that means tranferring to another registrar and/or hosting company.
While many other companies give you a "free domain name" yet register it under their own name and allow you use of it only as long as you purchase their other services, we don't do business that way. We want you to stay with us willingly, because you love our service, not because you're being held hostage.
