Design recommendations are made based from years of being in this industry, seeing what works and what doesn't, and implimenting any current logos and/or branding elements into a design that will accomplish your goals.
If you don't look good, we don't look good.
This is probably every Designer's biggest hurdle (and most often heard complaint), and it slows down the process considerably. At the beginning of the project, as well as at each progress report, I'll solicit your opinions and ideas. If I recommend against something, it's because there's a solid reason not to do it. Please remember, you're hiring me for my experience, use it. It's included in the package, and I have your best interests in mind.
Above all, please remember the goal of the website is to deliver your company's message in a way that's pleasing and attractive to your user. Your website should have a look and feel that attracts your users and potential clients, and is not necessarily a reflection of the company owner's own personal style and taste. If that's what you're looking for, we're happy to design a personal site for the owner of the company.
We do value your input, and every design project is always a blending of:
- What I/we as designers think would be attractive and useable for your users;
- What I/we as developers know what's technically possible and feasible, and will achieve the website's goals;
- With what you, the client, have as a vision for the website.
We never want to end up like the poor designer in this comic: How A Web Design Goes Straight To Hell. While funny, it also carries a message.
